SUCCESSFUL TRIAL OF FIRST CANISTER BASED AGNI-V MISSILE
India on "January 31" for the first time successfully used a mobile launcher to test-fire its most potent missile Agni-V, which has a strike range of more than 5000 kms. Agni-V is capable of carrying nuclear warhead of over one tonne. The canister launch gives the missile full road or rail mobility, lending a great deal of stealth and resilience to the country's strategic strike capability. The Agni-V was first tested in April 2012.
